Geotechnical engineering missions

FONDASOL's teams have all the skills needed to intervene at every stage in the life of a structure to carry out geotechnical engineering missions types G1 to G5 as defined in French standard NF P94-500 of November 2013.

Mission G1 - Preliminary geotechnical survey
Mission G1 ES - Site Survey
Carried out before a preliminary study, schematic outline drawings or an outline preliminary design, this survey serves to define the geological model of the site as well as some basic recommendations relating to the construction on the site of an as-yet undefined structure to make a first identification of the geological risks of a site by doing a document review.
Mission G1 PGC – General Constructional Principles
This mission is carried out during the preliminary study, schematic outline drawing or preliminary design stage and serves to define the general constructional principles that can be envisaged for the project. It is based on the definition, implementation and/or follow-up of a programme of geotechnical investigations.
Mission G2 - Geotechnical design survey
Mission G2 AVP – In the Preliminary Design Phase
Carried out during the preliminary design phase, this mission studies the constructional principles and how the project can be adapted to the ground and produces the outline pre-dimensioning of a standard profile for each geotechnical structure. It is based on the definition, implementation and/or follow-up of a programme of geotechnical investigations. It provides a first idea of the quantities involved.
Mission G2 PRO - In the Design Phase
Carried out in the design phase, this mission provides an updated synthesis of the site, the methods of construction of the geotechnical structures and the related threshold values and the related threshold values, as well as the dimensioning of all the geotechnical structures, for all the construction phases. It provides an idea of the quantities/timing/costs involved in the construction of these structures. If necessary, further investigations are carried out.
Mission G2 DCE/ACT – In the tendering/contract award stage
This mission consists of preparing the tender documents for the invitation to tender for the construction of geotechnical structures and assisting the client with the technical analysis of the tenders and the selection of the contractors.
Mission G3 - Geotechnical construction design and monitoring
Normally the responsibility of the contractor, this mission serves to reduce the residual geotechnical risks by taking corrective adaptation or optimisation measures in good time.
In the design phase
The mission consists of studying the geotechnical structures in detail: hypotheses, definition and dimensioning, construction methods and conditions. If necessary, further investigations may be carried out.
In the monitoring phase
It consists of monitoring the construction of the geotechnical structures, checking the data and participating in drawing up the work completion file and maintenance recommendations for the geotechnical structures.
Mission G4 - Geotechnical construction supervision
Normally the responsibility of the project owner or its representative, this involves checking the geotechnical construction design and monitoring are compliant with the objectives of the project.
Supervision of the construction study phase
This consists of giving opinions on the geotechnical construction design, on the potential adaptations of the geotechnical structures proposed by the contractor, on the auscultation programme and the related threshold values.
In the supervision of construction monitoring phase
This consists of giving opinions, after specific interventions on the worksite, on the geotechnical context, on the observed behaviour of the structure and surrounding features and on the adaptation or optimisation of the geotechnical structure.
Mission G5 - Geotechnical diagnosis
During a project or the life of a structure
This mission consists, in connection with a specific mission, of studying one or more geotechnical elements as part of a diagnostic process, but without any involvement in other geotechnical elements.
After document review
This mission may include, after a document review, the definition of a programme of specific investigations and its implementation.
