The Valéry Giscard d'Estaing interchange

This operation was part of the construction of the Riviera-Marcory link, which consists of an express highway between Boulevard Mitterrand ( Riviera quarter) and Boulevard Giscard d’Estaing (Marcory quarter) in Abidjan.

The aim was to decongest the two old bridges (Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Charles de Gaulle) built over the Ebrié lagoon.

The VGE interchange consists of a minor interchange between Boulevard VGE and the expressway.

• 6 reinforced earth sliproads
• Ground-level roadways

Construction studies for 16 civil engineering structures for the interchange's 6 sliproads.

• The structures are prestressed slab bridges, either curved or of variable width resting on circular shafts on pile foundations.

• The complete XYZ geometry of each structure was provided.
• Most of the bridge decks were subject to 3D finite modelling.
