Stability of rock walls

As experts in rock wall stability, our geologists carry out G5, G2 PRO, ACT/DCE, G4 and G3 missions and project manage all of these issues:

  • Diagnosis of rock embankment and cliff stability: studies of hazards, rockfalls, rope access reconnaissance operations where access is difficult otherwise, or from an access platform and/or using drones
  • Dimensioning of reinforcements: bolting, draped nets, wire mesh rockfall screens, etc.
  • Rockfall modelling by 2D and 3D trajectory simulations based on DEM
  • Structural and kinematic analyses of rock movements: fracturing surveys, kinematic analysis using stereographic projection, interpretation of rock wall image analysis (OBI/ABI)

  • Monitoring studies of earthworks using rocks: stability of embankments made of excavated material, reinforcement recommendations
  • Assistance with structure foundations issues in rock
  • Underground works: geological and structural survey, classification of rock masses, fracture mechanisms in galleries

We work in synergy with our Earthworks and geotechnical engineering for road building department for projects involving issues relating to rock stabilisation or earthworks in rock.

Natural risks & cavities

A natural risk occurs when a natural hazard meets a human, economic or environmental issue;

Natural risk prevention

Fondasol can intervene on natural risks resulting from earth movements of natural or anthropogenic origin.

  • Subsidence and collapses of anthropogenic origin: underground quarries, marl pits, chalk cave, mines, wells, military saps, etc.
  • Subsidence and collapses of natural origin: karst, gypsum dissolution phenomena, suffosion, etc.
  • Landslides
  • Rockfalls

Missions regularly conducted concerning karst cavities

Fondasol Group's speleology and geotechnical skills are often called upon:

  • Geomorphological analyses
  • Speleological-type inspections, topography
  • Stability diagnostics
  • Principles of stabilisation/reinforcement
  • Dimensioning calculations

Geology applied to civil engineering

Our experts study and assess the incidence and impact of the geological context on your civil engineering projects (buildings, civil engineering structures, linear infrastructure, tunnels, directional drilling, etc.):

  • Geomorphological investigations
  • Geological mapping
  • Structural analyses , stereographic projections
  • Definition of geological models
  • Stability studies on embankments of excavated material, rock subgrades of structures (civil engineering structures, building, etc.)
