Major projects and complex investigations

Our Major Projects and Complex investigations department has drilling units that are capable of drilling all kinds of boreholes to depths that can reach 200 m and diameters of 250 mmon land and aquatic sites and in special or difficult-to-access environments.

Qualified and trained to carry out all the tests and interventions on the most difficult worksites, our drillers and their high-performance drilling equipment operate all over France and abroad, either directly or to support local teams.

Complex investigations

Our Major Projects and Complex Investigations is ready to rise to any challenge, whether it is intervening directly or guiding local teams:

  • Large-scale campaigns, with 4 hydraulic drilling machines, between 75 and 170 HP, and a 173 HP sonic drilling rig
  • Crane handling and helicopter transport, with 50 HP hydraulic drilling unit that can be dismantled into three 850 kg packages
  • Working on cramped sites or in confined spaces and/or explosive atmospheres, with our 65 HP hydraulic drilling rig with separate power pack

Sonic drilling

FONDASOL has been using high-frequency vibration-assisted drilling equipment since 2012.

  • The principle consists of generating vibration by two eccentric shafts driven by a hydraulic motor.
  • The high-frequency vibration is transmitted to the ground via a specific drill string and sampling tube.
  • It loosens or (fluidises) the soil immediately around the drill (1 to 5 mm), which allows the sampling tube to enter the ground very rapidly.

The oscillator in the drill head reaches a vibration frequency of 150 Hz and drilling depths of up 50 m for diameters less than 150 mm, making it up to three times more efficient than conventional methods.

Investigations from pontoons

Our teams also carry out investigations in maritime and river environments on bargesin line with the Division 222 regulation concerning the operation of cargo vessels (professional vessels) and the safety of life at sea regulations.

Our fleet is registered as maritime vessels, which allows us to work on all water courses in France (as maritime regulations prevail over river regulations).
